High Road Academy of WDC welcomes two new Associate Directors Caryl Banks and Stephanie James. These dynamic people bring innovations, fresh ideas, and the vision of moving forward with the program.
High Road Academy of Washington, DC has settled into their new location in the north east quadrant of the District of Columbia. Our new site is now located at 711 Edgewood St. NE. The move to our beautiful new building brought about exciting perks for our students. One perk is the multipurpose room that can also be used as a gym. The students and staff can use this facility for special events, program, and basketball tournaments. Another perk of this great building is having a direct link to the community for those students transitioning from school to work.
High Road Academy of WDC is a specialized school for students with broad-based learning disabilities. Our school offers small group setting, one on one instruction, and individualized education program for a particular student. Our classrooms range from ten to twelve students led by a certified teacher and a teaching assistant. Within the classroom or through pullout, our students have a range of related services that include speech/language, occupational therapy, and one on one/group therapy from a licensed social worker.
The Academy offers two tracks for our students: Diploma track and a Certificate Track. The Diploma track students have a 24.0 Carnegie Units to complete to receive a high school diploma. The Certificate track students are taught core academics along with a variety of transitional programs to help assist our student gain the skills they need for post graduation plans. The diploma and certificate curriculum is accompanied by supplemental materials such as guest speakers, special events, field trips, and on site job experience.

Dear Parent/Guardian,
High Road Academy welcomes you back from the summer and we hoped you had a wonderful summer and are ready for another exciting school year. This year High Road Academy has adopted the District of Columbia’s Public School Dress Code/Uniform Policy. The rulemaking was enacted on March 5, 2009 by the City Council approval and Mayor’s order. We are excited to require the dress code policy and maintain compliance with the local school district. The Student Government Associations at our schools have also strongly supported this transition.
We have enclosed student shirt order forms, which require your completion, payment and submission to us as soon as possible. All students are required to wear the High Road shirt either short sleeve or long sleeved and khaki bottoms to school on a daily basis.
Parents, Guardians thank you for the continued support and we look forward to another great school year!
