Welcome to the High Road Primary & Middle School of Washington, DC. Nestled in the southwest quadrant of the city, just miles from the waterfront area and a stone's throw away from the new Washington Nationals Baseball Stadium, the High Road Primary & Middle School opened its doors in August 2006.

From its inception, the mission of our school has been to comprehensively and expertly attend to the needs of our populations of special needs students. Replicating the success of our sister school program for LD populations—the High Road Primary & Middle School Academy—we daily apply our motto: “Building Student Confidence and Competence through Personalized Academic and Behavioral Interventions." We build our programs to fit the needs of each individual student rather than expecting students to try to fit into a one-size-fits-all model. Additionally, no matter how many challenges a student faces, we never give up on a child ... never.

Our administrative and school staff bring an array of experience in the areas of education, social services, recreation, child and family development, and counseling, among others. On any given day in any of our classrooms, one can easily witness our students improving across all domains—socially, scholastically, and developmentally. As we work to advance student learning, we simultaneously promote positive behaviors, actions, and choices in our students through our schoolwide behavior management system.

All of the High Road Schools & Academies of Washington, DC, share the philosophy that by promoting positive behaviors, students will both increase their academic learning potential and acquire valuable skills to become responsible, productive, and successful members of society.
